Agricultural Heritage and Resources is excited to announce (on short notice) an opportunity to travel to the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam for this unique event.
The 2018 event will feature John Deere equipment made in Horicon, Wisconsin, with an emphasis on the 1968 John Deere model 140. Collectors will be assembling from the area but fans will also be traveling from near and far to share their collections and their passion for John Deere machines. Close to one thousand machines are expected to be on display. Many prototypes and one-of-a-kind machinery will be on display on the grounds, including a large vintage snowmobile exhibition. An indoor swap meet will also take place. Young John Deere enthusiasts will have the opportunity to dig in the dirt with their families and see the remarkable equipment up close and personal. Fans will be able to purchase unique John Deere items, including event apparel. Laser cut and painted items will also be available for purchase at the John Deere factory. Concessions will also be available for hungry attendees. Rick Trahan, a John Deere blacksmith from Grand Detour, Illinois will be on site each day, showcasing his amazing blacksmithing skills. Enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to meet the John Deere retirees and employees who designed and built these extraordinary pieces of machinery. Factory tours will be scheduled throughout the weekend. Shuttles will transport visitors to and from the factory. The lineup of events will also feature a unique tractor parade.
We will arrive at the Dodge County Fairgrounds around 9:00 am. Shuttle busses will take you to the Lawn and Garden plant and/or the John Deere Gator plant. We will have plenty of time to enjoy the Weekend of Freedom Machines event with food and refreshments available throughout the grounds.
Our tour will also take us to the Horicon Marsh Education & Visitor Center, a unique and educational experience to learn about this important natural bird migration marsh.
